Obituary

Bobby Dan Hughes was born in San Angelo, Texas on January 16, 1943 and died at his home in Huntsville, Texas on January 11, 2025. He was raised in Orange, Texas and graduated from West Orange High School with honors in 1961 and joined the United States Air Forces.

Bobby served his country for 26 years.  He was stationed primarily in Japan, Germany and Turkey where he was a Russian linguist.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1987 as a Chief Master Sergeant, he was employed by the Office of the Texas Attorney General. While there he finished his B. S. degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland.

Mr. Hughes retired from that office in 2003 and moved to Onalaska, Texas with his wife Merry where they lived until 2016. They then moved to Elkins Lake in Huntsville, Texas where he remained until his death.

Bobby enjoyed several hobbies including sailing, photography and music. He played the guitar, sang and wrote many songs, He especially loved gospel music.

Mr. Hughes is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, and son Timothy.  He is survived by his wife Merry, son Patrick and his wife Cathy and three granddaughters, Malorri, Megan and Riley. He is also survived by his step-daughter Christie Moorman, her husband David and grandson Cason Garner Moorman of Huntsville, Texas. Bobby cherished his furry companion Molly.
