Barbara Fay Currie

May 17, 1948 – March 26, 2026

Barbara Fay Currie, lovingly known as "Grandma Hairy" by her great-grandchildren, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 26, 2026, peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on May 17, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas, to Robert Earl and Billie Miller.

Barbara was a woman of deep faith and unwavering love for the Lord. As a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church, her relationship with Jesus was the foundation of her life. She lived out her faith daily through kindness, service, and the love she poured into her family.

She dedicated 30 years of her career to Community Service Credit Union, serving faithfully from 1984 until her retirement in 2014. Outside of her work, Barbara was passionate about genealogy, spending countless hours researching and preserving her family's history—something she treasured deeply. She also had a lifelong love for quilting and sewing, creating pieces that will be cherished for generations. Barbara was also an avid owl collector, a hobby that brought her joy and became a charming reflection of her personality.

Barbara was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT), and the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC). These memberships reflected her deep appreciation for heritage and family legacy.

More than anything, Barbara adored her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the apple of her eye. She found great joy in baking cookies with them, attending their events, and simply spending time together. Her love was steady, generous, and unconditional.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Earl and Billie Miller; her brothers, Randy and Eddie Miller; and her granddaughter, Ashton Nettuno.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Harvey Currie; her children, Yolanda Cowart and husband Dean, Mark Nettuno and wife Jacqueline, Craig Nettuno and wife Shelly, Adam Currie and wife Michelle and Lauran Pedraza.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelton Cowart and wife Paige, Kale Cowart and wife Marcial, Morgan Dickey and husband Dean, Britleigh Nettuno and fiancé Juan, Chaztinee Kelly and husband Ray, and Keithan Perez and wife Courtnie, Trevor Currie and wife Shay and Hayden Currie; and her great-grandchildren, Jase, Avery, Karsyn, and Casey Cowart, Valor and Calvree Kelly and Levi Currie.

Barbara is further survived by her sister, Lenett Shirley and husband Jim McDermott, and her brother, Bill Carlton.

Though her family grieves deeply, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and find peace knowing she is now whole, healed, and in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
